Motorcyclists vow to improve road safety

Hundreds of motorcyclists at an event on Monday vowed to work for ensuring road safety. ACI Motors organised the event at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) marking the Independence Day with the aim of promoting road safety awareness among the people. Both male and female motorcyclists from the different part of the country joined the event. The motorcyclists took part in an oath to strictly follow traffic rules to avoid road accidents. Noted journalist and writer Anisul Haque administrated the oath. The video clip of the show was sent to the concerned authorities seeking world recognition. AKM Hafiz Aktar, Additional Inspector General of Police, attended the event as the chief guest while Bangladesh cricket team captain (ODI) Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Yamaha brand ambassador cricketer Taskin Ahmed, ACI Motors executive director Subrata Ranjan Das and Shohoz.com managing director Maliha Kabir addressed the event. AKM Hafiz called upon the motorcyclists to follow traffic rules strictly to avoid road accidents. “You should not drive motorcycles on the footpaths. Always wear your helmets. All the bike passengers including women and children have to use helmets,” said. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said “Our traffic police perform duty on the street under the burning sun. We should follow traffic rules in order to regard their hard work and show respect to them.” Echoing view of Mashrafe, cricketer Taskin Ahmed also suggested the bikers to go by traffic rules to avoid road accidents. The programme was followed by concert and raffle draw. The first winner got a Yamaha motorcycle while 10 others won tour packages for Cox’s Bazar.
